Question
When I first purchased my condominium, I rented a parking spot in the basement of the building. After two years, I purchased the spot. In my designated spot I not only park my car but also store personal possessions in plastic storage boxes and lockers.
I have now received a notice stating that if I dont store my things in metal storage containers and only in front of my car I will be fined. Does the condominium association have the legal right to dictate what I store in a parking spot that I own?
Answer
The precise rights of the condominium association and this unit owner are governed by the condos bylaws and house rules, said Aaron Shmulewitz, a Manhattan co-op and condo lawyer.
