Medellín, with its modern architecture and art, also has hundreds of antique buildings valuable to its heritage. Many of them are neglected and in dire need of restoration and adequate conservation efforts; hence the city just proposed a plan to protect its patrimony which the City Council has begun to study. One example of neglect is the house where founding father Francisco Antonio Zea was born.
